Renting in Larkhall
Compare Larkhall homes around St Saviour’s Road and Lambridge, check the U6 campus timetable and plan a separate evening or weekend journey.
For a Larkhall rental, compare the walk into St Saviour's Road and Larkhall's local centre with the walk to London Road or Lambridge for onward travel. They answer different questions. A home close to local facilities may not be equally close to the bus stop you need.
Larkhall is in north-east Bath. This guide uses those named reference points, rather than assuming that every hillside or edge-of-area address advertised as Larkhall has the same access.
Check the local destinations that matter to you
Larkhall Community Library is listed at New Oriel Hall, Brookleaze Buildings. The Rondo Theatre is on St Saviour's Road. Both provide useful reference points for understanding where a property sits; check the current programme or opening times if you intend to use them.
B&NES lists Alice Park with a play area, tennis courts and a community garden, and identifies its Gloucester Road entrance. Compare the route from the home to the entrance you would use, including road crossings. Nearby green space does not establish the access or outdoor space provided with a particular rental.
For ordinary errands, identify your actual grocery and pharmacy destinations and visit the route back to the house. Check gradients and steps from the individual street instead of assigning a single walking time to Larkhall.
Test the campus service against your whole day
The current U6 timetable provides a useful example of why both ends of the day matter. It is a Monday–Friday term-time service between Lambridge and the University of Bath.
| Monday–Friday term-time example, checked 3 November 2026 | Scheduled result |
|---|---|
| Morning from Lambridge to Arrivals Square | 08:33 → 09:00 |
| Final listed return from Sports Training Village to Lambridge | 19:15 → 19:34 |
| Return after a 21:00 campus finish | No U6 departure at that time in the checked table |
The 09:00 arrival is at a bus stop. It leaves no allowance for reaching a 09:00 class, and the property-to-Lambridge walk must also be added. The return uses the Sports Training Village stop. The table says the service does not run at weekends, so a Saturday activity needs a separate plan.
Before relying on this route, check the operator's current timetable hub and the service calendar for your travel date. For later journeys, use Travelwest with the actual time; do not assume a morning direct route remains available all evening.
Compare cross-city journeys as well
| Origin to compare | Destination | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Your door, then Lambridge if appropriate | University of Bath, Claverton Down | Walk, applicable U6 or alternative route and final campus walk |
| Your door | Bath Spa University, Newton Park | Whole journey west, any changes and the last workable return |
| Your door | Bath Spa University, Locksbrook | Route to the actual campus entrance rather than the university name alone |
| St Saviour's Road and your full address | Bath Spa railway station or city centre | Bus or walking option, road crossings and the trip after a late train |
The Bath Spa campus page helps identify the right destination. Use the same weekday arrival deadline for every property, then repeat the comparison for the latest regular return. Put the results into the campus journey worksheet.
Inspect the final approach to the home
Make the return route part of the viewing. If an address sits above your everyday destinations, ask yourself whether the climb changes how often you would walk, cycle or take a bus. Test what matters to your household rather than assuming a hill is either an advantage or a problem for everyone.
At the property:
- Follow the actual entrance route with any access needs in mind.
- Check bicycle storage and whether it can be reached from the street.
- Establish where bins go and how deliveries identify the correct door.
- Note the bedroom's position and observe the street at a relevant time.
- Verify the council's permit position if a car is essential.
Use the viewing comparison tool to separate observed facts from questions still awaiting an answer. The local facilities are only one part of the decision; the late-return plan and full monthly budget should work as well.
For alternatives, compare central Bath using station and bus-stop access, or Weston if your routine is centred on the hospital or western side of the city.
